Canalys: Global Tablet Shipments Grew by 9% in 2024
According to the latest Canalys data, global tablet shipments in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 5.6% year-over-year, reaching 39.9 million units. As a result, the total shipment volume for 2024 amounted to 147.6 million units, which is 9.2% more than in 2023. Growth was observed in all regions except North America, indicating recovery after the decline in 2023.
Expectations for 2025:
- 52% of commercial tablet suppliers expect an increase in shipments in 2025.
- 32% expect steady performance, while 16% expect a decline.
- There will be many opportunities for upgrades across various industries and verticals.
Chinese Manufacturers in the Tablet Market:
- Xiaomi led with an annual growth of 73%, securing the fifth spot in the overall rankings.
- Huawei demonstrated a 29% increase, rising to third place.
- Lenovo ranked fourth, shipping 10 million tablets and achieving 12% growth.
- Apple strengthened its leading position, increasing sales by 14% in the fourth quarter and 5.3% for the year.
Other Factors and Risks:
- This year, consumer tablet sales will be more constrained, but suppliers will still have growth opportunities.
- In China, government subsidies significantly boosted electronics sales, but tablet shipments grew by only a few percent in the fourth quarter of 2024.
